So, somewhere in the Twitterverse I stumbled across this link to an article by a Canadian sex worker aimed at sex work abolitionists. It is, to use the author’s words, “a complicated answer” to an important question so I’m not going to try to say anything smart here – I just really liked how clearly she made the point that sex work is really no more degrading than any job or than the general idea of doing things for money, which is how things work within capitalism. It just makes a lot of sense that the whole “degrading” idea is a silly sidetrack that isn’t going to go anywhere unless everyone is apparently communist now.
Anyway – I recommend the article cos it’s rather sharply insightful, and certainly made me think.
